Observing the mass revolt of millions of Iranians in 1978, late twentieth century historian, Michel Foucault, wrote the demonstrations represent "the long chains of reasons" that cause an individual to risk death and give history a "breath of life". In our time, peaceful mass marches have brought down regimes and stopped wars. They have started revolutions.
