Paul Quentin Hirst was a great intellectual of our times.

Paul Quentin Hirst, (Holberton, Devon, 20 May, 1946 – London, 16 June, 2003), polymath and politically engaged scholar, lead an intellectual journey that brought a generation of left thinkers through Marxism to the Labour Party to a new associative democracy and civil liberties culture and, most importantly, to a more searching, open-minded and sceptical political philosophy.
